Summer Loving (plus a linky)

July 2, 2017July 6, 2017 Fionnuala Zinnecker3 Comments

So, it’s all been a bit quiet over here lately, hasn’t it? Where have I been, you might have wondered. Well, nowhere really. Work, home, work, home, and so on and so on. Work has been crazy busy with me covering for others off on holidays. There are a dozen posts I wanted to write… Continue reading Summer Loving (plus a linky)

On The Day Job

June 9, 2017 Fionnuala Zinnecker4 Comments

“Sorry” I said as I stood at my friend’s garden gate, looking down, swiping, tapping. “I just need to check one e-mail then I’m here”. Tap, scroll, smile. E-mail sorted.  “OK, That’s it. Work is over” I said, two hours after I left the office, as I crossed the threshold from footpath to garden and… Continue reading On The Day Job

Very Much A Mother

March 11, 2017March 11, 2017 Fionnuala ZinneckerLeave a comment

There’s been a mixup. Wires are crossed somewhere. I’m sure they are because it just isn’t right, the way things are. Someone else’s karma has popped into my life and is laughing in my face. Last week I wrote about how I keep our home organised. This week I wrote about the wonderful weekend I… Continue reading Very Much A Mother

I haven’t work on Fridays since 2008. „How is she  supposed to manage this project when she’s not here?“ said another… Continue reading Part-Time Predjudice

Three Months In, Three Strategies

The thing I dreaded most about 2016 happened and I survived. I returned to work and the world as I knew it, to my surprise, did not come crashing down. My job was lurking at the back of my mind for months before the return became a reality. Try as I might I could not muster… Continue reading Three Months In, Three Strategies

Not All Coffeebreaks Were Created Equal

October 17, 2016 Fionnuala Zinnecker2 Comments

I’m back at my desk job, as regular readers will know. How have things been going so far? Well, let’s just day the chances of my being able to drink my coffee hot have increased, but my pleasure in making myself a coffee has sunk. There is a big difference between coffee at home and at… Continue reading Not All Coffeebreaks Were Created Equal

Holding On To The Good Stuff

October 6, 2016 Fionnuala Zinnecker10 Comments

Before taking two years off to be at home with my children, I was a working mother for several years, first of one child, then of two. My memories of those times are mixed. I enjoyed being smartly turned out, being respected for my professional opinion and having the flexibility to work from home if… Continue reading Holding On To The Good Stuff
